Shopping Cart
November 30, 2007

I am going to have to get a shopping cart. Everyone in Memphis has one. It appears that the cool thing to do is to just casually (no rushing) push one around the streets. You can put random items in it…you name it, any assortment of things can go together nicely in a shopping cart. Or you can just push an empty cart around. That’s cool too. But these shopping carts are pretty hard to come by. Unfortunately, the carts are in such high demand and the stingy grocery stores want to keep the carts to themselves, so they have developed these high tech carts. The wheels lock up if the cart is taken off the premises, can you believe that. So the only way I figure I can get my hands on one will be to ‘borrow’ one from someone’s front lawn.
That appears to be the place where people in Memphis keep their carts. Like the driveway is for cars, porches are for couches, and front yards are for shopping carts. So I may have to grab one, so at least for a day I can cruise around town with my shopping cart. I just can’t decide if I want to put some of my stuff in it to begin with or if I should search the town for items to fill my cart. Either way I will fit in a lot better here once I get a shopping cart.
